Mining Safari for the Chilean Delegation in Finland

Niina Fu organized a Mining Safari for a Chilean mining delegation of 15 professionals visiting Finland including Minera Los Pelambres, Minera El Tesoro, Minera Las Cenizas, Barrick Chile, JR Ingeniería, Proter, Universidad de Antofagasta, Mineralium Consulting Group, Vasco Profesionales, and Minería Chilena (mining magazine).

The program featured company visits, discussions, and a networking event, co-organized by the Finland-Latin America Business Association. The project’s primary goal was to strengthen the competitiveness of Finnish mining subcontractors in Chile and foster new business relationships with local clients.

Chile’s leading mining magazine, Minería Chilena, published an extensive report on the visit, highlighting the significance of the delegation’s meetings with Finnish mining companies, technology providers, and policymakers.

The Safari Project was officially launched when Pöyry Oyj successfully co-invited Chilean mining companies to Finland during Prime Minister Katainen’s visit to Chile in January 2013. The Chilean delegation consisted of 15 participants, primarily from mining companies.

Special Highlight – Chilean Mining Vice-Minister’s Visit to Finland in 2013

During the delegation’s visit, the Chilean Mining Vice-Minister was also in Finland, which led to an extraordinary opportunity when Niina Fu suggested a joint event to Business Finland and the Finnish Foreign Ministry to leverage the Vice-Minister’s presence. This led to a unique networking cruise, bringing together Chilean mining delegates and political representatives in an exclusive setting. The event, sponsored by Afry, provided an impactful platform for business development and strengthening bilateral cooperation.
