DUOC Concepción Seminar Showcases Finnish Expertise in Sawmilling Efficiency – over 100 participants
The seminar opened with remarks from Ilkka Heiskanen, Ambassador of Finland, followed by a welcome from Niina Fu. Rogelio Vorphal shared insights from the Sawmill Safari trip to Finland, and Kai Merivuori, Managing Director of the Finnish Sawmill Association, delivered the keynote presentation “The Finnish Path to Efficiency.”
Six prominent Finnish companies—FinScan, Heinola Sawmill, Veisto (HewSaw), Savcor Forest, and ValonKone—presented their latest innovations in grading, optimization, software, sawmill technology, and debarking processes. Many of these companies already have strong references and long-term cooperation with major Chilean and Argentine industry players.
The event concluded with an open panel discussion and closing remarks, reinforcing collaboration between Chile’s sawmill industry and Finland’s advanced technological expertise to drive higher productivity and efficiency in the sector.
A public seminar at DUOC UC in Concepción on November 21 attracted over 100 participants, demonstrating strong local interest in Finnish sawmilling technology. The event brought together Chilean sawmill companies, media representatives, and leading Finnish technology suppliers.
