Chilean Wooden Construction Delegation Explored Finland & Sweden

A delegation of 17 Chilean companies specializing in wooden construction visited Finland and Sweden from April 9–12, 2024. The delegation was composed primarily of real estate developers, architectural firms, and construction companies, many of which operate internationally across Latin America, the United States, Canada, and Europe.

During the visit, the delegation also met with Anders Adlercreutz, European Affairs and Ownership Steering Minister of Finland, and an architect by profession.

The visit had a concrete result, it led to a business agreement between a Finnish architecture firm and a Chilean real estate developer, highlighting the growing interest in Nordic expertise and sustainable building solutions.

The visit was highly successful:
✅ 100% of the delegation members (20 individuals, 17 companies) stated that the visit met their expectations.
✅ Over 80% are now actively seeking partnerships in Finland.


New projects and collaborations emerged, including:

▪️ Ignacio Hernández (Archiplan) – Development of a CLT-based school project in Iquique, in partnership with Lahdelma & Mahlamäki Architects (Finland)

▪️ Sergio Meléndez (Bahía Mágica Inmobiliaria) – Planning hundreds of wooden homes in Playa Blanca, Tongoy

▪️ Pablo Larraín Marshall (BL Arquitectos) – Integration of thermally treated wood into architectural projects

▪️ Diego Arroyo (Lira Arquitectos) – Application of Nordic timber design principles in three housing developments using timber frame, prefabrication, and hybrid structures
