South American Delegation Led by ABAF President Visited Finland’s FinnMETKO Trade Fair

A high-level business delegation from South America, led by Wilson Andrade, Executive Director of the Bahian Association of Forest-Based Companies (ABAF), attended FinnMETKO, delivering a clear message to Finnish companies: billions will be invested in the forestry industry across Latin America in the coming years—can Finnish companies afford to miss out on these opportunities?

Business developer Niina Fu brought a high-profile 28-member corporate delegation from South America (Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Uruguay) to the FinnMETKO trade fair at the end of August. The delegation included representatives from forestry industry organizations, companies, contractors, and sawmills. Finnish hosts for the visit included Logset Oy, Alucar Oy, TP Silva Oy, and Arbonaut Oy.

FinnMETKO 2024 – Results from the Delegation Visit

The visit to FinnMETKO 2024 delivered exceptional results, with 100% of the delegates stating that the visit met their objectives, and 89% rating the program as highly successful.

Beyond the FinnMETKO trade fair trade fair, the delegation had a comprehensive program, including company visits, on-site forest excursions, sawmill tours, and, of course, an authentic Finnish sauna experience!

The delegation members were looking for new technology solutions from Finland, with a particular interest in forestry machinery, transport solutions, new business models, and digital innovations to enhance the forestry value chain.
