Finnish Sawmill Suppliers Delegation Visits Chile, Led by President Kai Merivuori
The visit began in Santiago, where Finnish Ambassador Ilkka Heiskanen hosted a high-level seminar for Chilean sawmill executives. From there, the delegation continued to Concepción and southern Chile, where major forestry companies arranged private programs and technical site visits. A public seminar at DUOC UC Concepción on November 21 drew more than 100 participants, underscoring the strong local interest in Finnish sawmilling technology and innovative solutions.
The visit highlighted Chile’s strategic importance for Finnish suppliers and opened new avenues for collaboration, investment, and long-term industry partnerships.
A delegation of Finnish sawmill suppliers, led by Kai Merivuori, President of the Finnish Sawmill Association, visited Chile from November 19–23, 2012, reinforcing long-term cooperation between the two countries’ forestry industries. The Finnish companies—Heinola Sawmill Incorp, FinScan Ltd, VeistonKone Ltd, Veisto Ltd, and Savcor Forest Ltd—had just previously hosted Chilean sawmill companies in Finland in August 2012 in a Sawmill Safari organized by Niina Fu.
