Finnish Pavilion Led International Participation at Expocorma 2021, Chile – After the pandemia

Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Finland had the largest foreign delegation at Expocorma 2021, Chile’s leading forestry trade fair, held in the Biobío region. While 80% of international delegations canceled their participation, Finland remained committed to attending, with representatives from seven Finnish companies engaging in discussions with local industry peers.

A total of 38 foreign companies withdrew from the event, leaving only eight international participants, of which seven were Finnish. “From the beginning, it was clear that we were going to participate in Expocorma,” stated Teemu Tynkkynen from Valon Kone, one of the Finnish companies present alongside TKM TTT, Lemtapes, Pinomatic, Raute, Cross Wrap, and KPA Unicon, all of whom showcased their expertise at the Finnish Pavilion.

High-Level Participation & Finnish Seminar

Recognizing Finland’s strong presence, Finnish Ambassador to Chile, Eija Rotinen, traveled to the event to inaugurate the Finnish Pavilion’s seminar, titled ”Wood Construction and Bioenergy for a Sustainable Future.” The seminar was attended by over 70 participants and was also broadcast live.

Ambassador Rotinen emphasized the importance of Expocorma as the first major in-person forestry sector event in Chile in four years. She highlighted that for Finnish industry players, the fair served as a crucial platform for establishing new connections and strengthening relationships with key industry stakeholders.

Finland’s Commitment to Forestry & Innovation

Despite global uncertainties, Finland’s strong presence at Expocorma 2021 demonstrated its commitment to fostering innovation, sustainability, and business collaboration in Chile’s forestry and bioenergy sectors.
