President of IIMP Leads Latin American Mining Delegation to Finland 2014

Helsinki, Finland – Antonio Samaniego, President of the Institute of Mining Engineers of Peru (IIMP), is leading a high-level delegation of Latin American mining professionals to Finland to explore the country’s advanced mining technology and sustainable mining practices.

The delegation includes nine key representatives from leading mining companies and institutions, including MILPO, Minera Tauro, Xstrata Las Bambas, Minera San Cristóbal Bolivia, and Universidad Católica de Santa María. The visit is organized in collaboration with IIMP.

Objective of the Visit

The delegation’s goal is to:
✔ Gain insights into Finland’s efficient and sustainable mining operations
✔ Explore cutting-edge technology and automation in the sector
✔ Strengthen business relationships between Finnish and Latin American mining industries

Seminar with the Finnish Chamber of Commerce

A key part of the visit was a seminar organized in cooperation with the Finnish Chamber of Commerce, where the Peruvian delegation met with Finnish industry leaders, mining technology providers, and policymakers. The seminar focused on:

🔹 Opportunities for Finnish companies in Latin America’s mining sector
🔹 Best practices in sustainable and efficient mining operations
🔹 Technology-driven solutions for modern mining challenges

Strengthening Latin America-Finland Mining Collaboration

The visit includes meetings with Finnish mining technology providers, site visits to mines, and discussions with industry experts. Finland’s reputation for efficiency, safety, and environmental responsibility in mining positions it as an ideal partner for Latin American companies seeking innovative solutions.
